Fact, in the United Kingdom in both World Wars the percentage of merchant seamen (civilians) who lost there life was higher than the percentage of Army, Royal Navy or Royal Airforce personnel killed. Fact in both World Wars the Merchant Seaman when his ship got sunk or captured had his pay stopped. Fact that many British Legions used to refuse Merchant Seaman the right to join.

I cant speak for the US but the British Merchant Navy lost a higher percentage of its men in both World Wars compared to the Royal Navy, Army or Airforce (WW2 only)

how about a video on one of the greatest legal "pirates" of all times Admiral Lord Cochrane.

In WW2 their was the case of the Criton a Merchant Ship. The Criton had been a Vichy French cargo ship captured by the Royal Navy for carrying contraband, the ship was declared a War Price and taken to Freetown. From there a decision was taken to man the vessel with a crew of Seafarers who were shipwreck survivors from many Allied ships Captained by Captain Dobeson formerly of the Wray Castle. The ship joined a convoy SL78 from Freetown to the United Kingdom. The Criton fell behind and was intercepted by a Vichy French Warship who order the vessel to stop and then open fire on the vessel killing 10 men and sinking the ship. The Captain and Senior Officers were then charged with being franc-tireurs (Pirates) for sinking the Crition, even though it had been sunk by a Vichy French warship. The were imprisoned in a camp near Timbuctoo in terrible condition. After the war the French made an ex-gracia payment to the British as compensation, however the British Goverment failed to pass this on the the ex prisoners involved.

Really Miss Dragon? And the German Raiders with False Flags, False names were perfectly legitimate?

@MissDragonByt What are you on, must be good as your brain is clearly fried. Q ships preyed on German Naval Submarines. German Raiders preyed on merchant ships.

@MissDragonByt Please stop showing your lack of knowledge. The British had no need nor the ability to use Q Ships against German merchant ships because they had a total naval blockade, and all the German Merchant ships were either in Germany, or captured or interned within a few days of the start of the war. Look up the statistics. A few German raider got out usually through the Denmark Strait.
