Comments by "Ben Wilson" (@benwilson6145) on "After D-Day: Rommel's View \u0026 Assessments" video.
Vice Admiral Ruge who was on Rommel's Staff in Normandy stated during an interview with the US in 1946. 30. When the Allies succeeded in establishing their beachhead, Rommel was of the opinion that the war must be ended promptly at any cost. He said to me once, “Much better end this at once and live as a British Dominion than be ruined by continuing this hopeless war.” He was opposed to a Eurasian block and favoured cooperation with the Atlantic powers. He felt himself to be an heir to the traditions of the West, and I think he died for this conviction.

@joselitostotomas8114 It is a reported fact that Montgomery asked his Intelligence Unit to find out where the Germans were setting up there HQ. He then sent the bombers to attack them.

@orbitalair2103 Except Patton was safely tucked up in bed in London with his niece.

Yes, Monty defeated Rommel at every battle from taking command of the Eighth Army and Rommel lost every battle, great record!

General Bradley. “ The British and Canadian armies were to decoy the enemy reserves and draw them to their front on the extreme eastern edge of the Allied beachhead. Thus, while Monty taunted the enemy at Caen, we [the Americans] were to make our break on the long roundabout road to Paris. When reckoned in terms of national pride, this British decoy mission became a sacrificial one, for while we tramped around the outside flank, the British were to sit in place and pin down the Germans. Yet strategically it fitted into a logical division of labors, for it was towards Caen that the enemy reserves would race once the alarm was sounded” Maybe that answers your question?

@dalestephan6777 Not a great thought that the Allies were coming from the sea!

@MrJonrocker Its always bad when its your friends that kill you.

@youraveragescotsman7119 Followed by the Second fastest advance in the Western front only beaten later by Montgomery. Slowest advance! Patton at Metz, three months and 10 miles.

@chrisjones6736 May have been the Canadian Airforce, but never mind

@bigwoody4704 A Woody, the man who believed the British Expeditionary Force was still in France in 1944! Still as well informed as ever! The slowest advance in France /Belgium was your hero Paton, who made 10miles in over a month. The two fastest advances was Montgomery. Paton did have a one record, the only General who was twice sacked by Eisenhower. Paton also claimed to have fought Rommel, he didn't, fake news like so many of his claims.

@SneedEnjoyer t heart Rommel was a Nazi.

@joselitostotomas8114 Montgomery asked for and received Direction Finders and intelligence to identify the German HQ. These were then attacked by air.
