I am not an aircraft designer, but what I have read is that the problem is caused by the fact the new engines are to large to fit under the wing. Therefore they have to be mounted mainly above and forward of the wing. This changer the planes center of gravity moving it forward. This makes the plane hard to fly as it will always try to dive? The MCAS was a electronic system that was to change the flight characteristic so it appeared similar to existing 737 models. When it fails the plane starts trying to descend. So fixing the MCAS only fixes an electronic cheat, but not the real problem?
