@tamilly7941 Your lack of historical knowledge is extreme. At Caen Montgomery faces 7 to 8 Panzer Divisions, the US Army also under his command faced half a Panzer Division. He took this because he had experience and the US Troops had either no or minimal experience.

@Novusod can you explain how England had a British Army? I always thought it was Britain that had a British Army?

Please remember that in 1745 a smallish force of Scottish troops defeated the English Governments Scottish/English troops and advanced as far south as Derby, from this we get the British National Anthem (God Save the King/Queen). A large number of this defeated Scottish Army fled to Europe and many went to the Colonies in North America, where they fought the English Army, look where the right to bear arms comes from, this right was stripped from the Scots after 1746. A large number of these troops had fought in Europe for mainly the Swedish, Dutch and French Armies so were trained battle hardened men. So what was to become a major part of the British Army, the Highland Regiments were not in existence until late in the 18th Century.
