@Fabian Kirchgessner Blockade is a legitimate tactic. The Germans could have used the fertiliser plants to make fertiliser instead of explosives, and the population to plant food instead of invading neighbour countries, self inflicted hunger. The Germans also carried out a U Boat blockade of Britain. The British Blockade only became effective after 1916 when the Allies enforced a ban on Denmark and Holland exporting food to Germany at a great profit from supplies brought through the blockade. It is unbelievable that any German ever complains about hunger when millions of civilian deaths in WW2 were caused by the Germans, look at Ukraine, Russia, Poland Greece, France, Belgium.

@Fabian Kirchgessner I can only think that your are either ignorant or a Nazi. 1 Merchant ships are manned by civilians. Did the Germans allow the crew to escape? 2 Blockading Britain is acceptable but blockading Germany is not? 3 Britain pulled back on its war to feed its population, Germany sent all the food to the soldiers, so much so that soldiers had to send food parcels to there family. That is murder caused by the German Government.. 4 What rule, please state it says blockades are illegal, Werahaboo myths do not count.

@Fabian Kirchgessner My goodness the mental gymnastics you need. "Belgium was only invaded in order to defeat France, not to conquer Belgium". Ranks as one of the most idiotic comments ever written. The Germans also invaded Luxembourg and France, unless I missed something. The Schlieffen Plan was an attack plan, not defensive, plan. France did not invade Germany.

Black Watch: Liberating Europe and Catching Himmler - My Extraordinary WW2 with the Highland Division by Tom Reouf is a first hand account of the Black Watch campaign from D Day to Bremerhaven in 1945.
