  1. Auchinleck was the only Indian Army General to be given command of a British Corp. To counter your lack of faith in the ex Indian Army you just need to to look at Wavell and O'Connor, both ex Indian Army who did a great job against the Italians in North Africa. Alternatively there were several British Army Generals including Gort who dis not appear to have a concept of tank warfare. Even in the German Army the "Infantry" Generals appeared not to understand tank warfare.
