The desecration of war graves is wrong, please do not forget that the British Goverment sold the sunken WW1 and WW2 merchant ships who were also war graves to salvors. The ships were often torn apart and the steel "recovered" without any respect to there crews.

What is whataboutism? cannot find it in the dicktionary?

@KieferSmokerland Your companion is overwhelming, your legal knowledge is about zero. When a ship sinks 99% of the time it has an owner, that may be a Goverment, a Company or an Insurance company.

@hedgehog3180 Were you born ignorant or did you need to study to be ignorant?

@skyeshi3570 OH! Strange! Would you believe that the Salvage Companies salved the shallow ones OH! MY! What a low down bunch of Cheats! What research have you done? Some sources PLEASE! Please point me to the British Goverment Laws against destroying the sunken merchant ships for your defence. If you are capable of reading , try Risdon Beasley Marine Salvor. Or a history of Smit, or of Selco or United Towing. I suggest an easy start with Golfinder, and the history of the Jessop Salvage Group. Just some simple facts In WW1 more than 3000 British ships sunk and 15 000 Merchant Seaman dead In WW2 4700 British Merchant ships sunk , 29 000 Merchant Seaman dead. You have no respect for these men!

@skyeshi3570 I am totally and deeply impressed with your 10 min on the Internet. You should become a politician and you will soon be the Prime Minister! He is a expert with facts and truth as well. Blowing a ship apart to salvage its hull will get you even more votes. Shock Horror image the Salvage companies not posting . "We desecrate War Graves" on the internet! If you can read ?! Even Keith Jessop says what was happening in his early salvage career, its not always pretty! Again if you read Goldfinder you will find a newspaper report where divers placed glow sticks in the skull of a RN Sailors body in the hull of the HMS Edinburgh, to "scare" the next dive team.. Some of the ships were blown apart to remove them from channels and pipeline routes. Imagine my surprise when you dont find the Ports and Oil Companies saying "We desecrate War Graves"!

Most of it was recovered by Ernest Cox in the 1920/30"s.

Not completely true, the gold was salved by divers by cutting a hole in the side. There was no need to touch the remains, however as "joke" a diver placed light sticks in the skull of a sailor to frighten the next dive team. The Dive company was 2W and the dive vessel was the German ship Stephantarium .

@alistairclarke6726 Quite strange, you reference Goldfinder, but you do not reference the DSV or the the Dive Company nor the controversy over the Divers using Glow sticks, its all in the book! There is Philip in photographs in the Book! I have also worked with two of the 2W Divers, and know more about some thats not in the book.

Your statement is not true, there are ships that have been found 50 years after sinking and the skeletons are still there. Where did you get your knowledge?
