@exharkhun5605 I get confused by you interchanging the Terms Merchant Marine and Merchant Navy. They are totally different, one is British, one is American. Do you also confuse RN and USN? The Merchant Navy was a civilian volunteer force. You again are unclear about when a Merchant Navy mans pay stopped. It stopped when the ship sank, it stopped when the man died, it stopped when the man was captured! This practice ceased in May 1941 when the Essential Work Order came into force. If you are being an expert, please do some research and get it right

@VFRSTREETFIGHTER The Ohio was a T2 SE A1 tanker built en-masse.. They made 15 knots, nothing special. I have a copy of the Ship Movement card confirming this. The Ship Moment card is available online. Where is the record of Ohio achieving super speed?

!5 knots. nothing too fast, not a fleet oiler
2
@historigraph It was a British Registered and manned by Eagle Oil crew ship.

14 150 GRT is not small. The Bravery is large.

@geordiedog1749 It was an American built British Registered ad British crewed ship

@exharkhun5605 I never said the Ohio had an American crew. It was you that brought up Merchant Mariners and not me, I corrected you again. Try and keep the facts straight. The Ohio was registered in London with a crew from Eagle OIl.

Do some research, perfectly legitimate. The Kormarant crew were imprisoned in Australia until 1946 no action taken.

There is a Series of convoys, all important and all interlinked. PQ 17, Pedestal and PQ 18. All vital.

There is a myth that some how a tanker full of fuel will explode in a fireball. An empty tanker with cargo holds full of gas is much more dangerous
1
@Ashfielder There is at least two tankers hit by a warship, set on fire and abandoned that were later reboarded, fire extinguished and successfully sailed to land.
