  2. Martello towers, cant confirm the ones you saw were British built, but most were built by Britain during the Napoleon Wars. They built them all around Britain and Ireland and in most of the British Empire.

The other target was heavy machine gun posts.

  43. Lot of cheating going on. There was no road west to east until well after the war. Walking through the rock flows is virtually imposable, the tussocks are ankle breaking The wet soil is difficult. Walking on a flat , drained surface is easy.
