  4. I have seen every Alien movie there is and Romulus sits just behind Alien 3 of the franchise. Every other alien movie is pure dross. I thought it was a great movie and a great addition to the franchise. The drinker is just being harsh, but then again he does drink a lot so yeah...

And just so you know, Drinker; I watched the first two Alien movies just last weekend before this one; didn't find time to see the third and absolutely skipped Prometheus and Covenant as trash films. Romulus improved so much from those two because AT THE VERY LEAST, you don't have characters making monumentally stupid decisions to move the plot. Romulus is a return to form for the series and I hope they build from it. Many people who watched it agree which is why it is doing great in the box office. Alien Romulus is a great movie, even you will see it that way when you sober up, someday. :D

  17.  @onebadpuffin2170  well I don't consider AvP as part of the Alien franchise. Besides AvP does have a few plot holes that mar it's decency. Like why a Yautja hunter would ever dare take off his mask to ritually mark himself when hunting xeno morphs is just bad writing. You'd think they'd know that seeing that there was an actual xeno morph queen laying eggs in the basement that there would be little face huggers running around? In Romulus the only plot grey zone for me was the fact that a pulse rifle can hold 500 rounds. Yeah man, even the writing alone shows that Romulus is the better movie. But hey potato, tomato.

The drinker is a movie critique not some kind of messiah, even he gets it wrong. This is an example of exactly the drinker getting it wrong.

  24. hard disagree, I think a whole bunch of people on this video commentary enjoy ripping down movies so much that they fail to appreciate when an actual good movie comes along. Alien Romulus is the best addition to the franchise in decades far exceeding the mess of prometheus and covenant and sits on par with Alien 3. If you cannot appreciate this then you can enjoy sitting on the h8 train ripping everything that comes your way.

If you actually watched the movie you'd understand that every colonist working the mines of that Weyland Yutani planet died just before middle age due to disease that the company could not cure. This is why a bunch of young adults whom have all lost their parents to the mines decided to take a chance to steal cryopods from a derelict station tugged into orbit over their planet to escape to another system for a better life. But hey, sit in your arm chair and nit pick away without a clue. That's so much better.

  28. I only remembered Ripley from the original Alien until I watched it a couple of times more to know whom the other characters were. How much do we need to know about characters in movies like these? These are young adults orphaned on a dystopia mining planet belonging to WeYu, decided to chance a burglary nevermind grand theft space ship to steal cryopods to escape said dystopian planet for a better one. In the first Alien movie all I got from the characters were company people doing a bit of overtime and complaining about shares until an alien bursts from one of their chests. In essence I got more to know the characters of Romulus more than the first Alient movie.
