  2. What a lot of people do is choose the Japanese passport but also get the other passport but don't tell the Japanese officials and make sure you use the Japanese passport when entering Japan. A lot of Japanese/Americans do this.

  3. If you don't have a koseki you won't get a Japanese passport. The koseki proves you are from a Japanese bloodline.

  4. I was in the same situation, people here talking about being underage is an issue. For me the consulate said, when I became a US citizen my mother on my behave signed with her acknowledgement and renounced my Japanese citizenship. When you are underage, your parents consents for you.
