  1. EDITED: I heard of one case where a peasant farmer woman buried her own son after he died of starvation from the famine. When the Soviet Army came and saw the mound in her yard, they forced her to dig up her own son's grave, because they thought she was hiding grain from them. As soon as they realized their mistake, they let her rebury her son and left.
