Love the chaos Taylor and Amy bring to your video! More of this! I actually liked this topic very much as a "newbie" user. It is true, sometimes the docs say "do this command if wanna X" - "Do this other command if you want to Y" but for some reason, nowadays, things being more complex, sometimes you can't X or Y without Z first, which maybe the doc didn't tell you because it assumed you had done it or already have it. And now you have to scour the internet and forums and ask community to help you, which often times they do and it's the beauty of this sphere. But for a BASE (not basic) piece of software, the docs should be 1:1 or 99% close to that with what you'll get.

Supported browsers: Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Chromium! Us: So... chromium. Got it. 🤣 I have to say though, coming back to Firefox... I hope they start putting some coal into those engines and working on stuff because it feels underwhelming/lackluster on some parts. Also them officially saying "Here, use this addon!" is something that could detour me to go back to a Chromium based browser. But I'm trying not to since eventually I want to run Linux full time. (completely off topic from the video, I know). On the terminal stuff, have you tried Nala to aid Apt on Debian? It's kinda neat. Also, I am aware this shouldn't have to do with anything ever because like who cares, but I do want to mention I am glad I found your channel (megacorpo algorithm doing good things for once!) and there's not many women in this sphere. So I want to say kudos to you. Overall it was a great fun video. Subbed :D PS: It's not weird they require you to have a Google account. It's just shitty. Like Microsoft does now with Windows. All the crap and evil corpo maneuvers aside, for syncing settings, saving account data (to steal it from you later as well), etc. makes sense that you need an account on their platform to use their services. It's just something inconvenient for people like you (I say it as a fact, no diss).

I paid a certification for a low value course and I feel like HACKERMANS writing comments on how the video did not show them - and ../chain tricks! Bummed the views do not reflect the quality of these videos, but I really hope you don't stop making them. You explain things really well (pun not intended) without adding things that could be confusing and you also don't leave out things like these that could be actually very useful. I'm learning AND having fun. Take that, high school teachers! (and college teachers...)

At 30 years, I finally "understand" what CDROM means and why it was named that way lol. As always, great video and I was starting to miss your content. It's been a while. Welcome back to the place where no matter what you do, people will complaint to you for free :P Thank you for the video. EDIT: PS, do you use your own setup e-mail service or what do you use? Maybe a video idea for the future? I am paying Proton's basic plan and only because I like the "values" they go for and to not use Outlook (never used Gmail really but I mean, same thing). However, it's become somewhat frustrating using Proton's services as they tend to fall short on "different fronts" depending on what you want do / your needs and depending on the service. And I am a bit annoyed that certain OBVIOUS/Logical features have not been implemented, despite users requesting those and upvoting on their "suggestions/Bugs" tracker. So I am open to alternatives, if there are any good ones. But I am not knowledgable in networking or anything like that so that is why I go with "one that has the service" instead of setting up anything on my own, of course.

I learnt about this recently trying to look for "browsers" and "Os" and... weighing in all the pros and cons... and learning from other dissenting youtubers with the "typical" opinion, I've come to learn that when something specific is needed, you could use anything at your disposal and NOT make your own life much harder for no reason other than "sticking with your values". This is a great video! This comment was typed on a KB8926 - I game on it too!

Noob question: How would I go about it if I want to force (joke) my gf to use Linux on her machine, say I install Debian. But we would love it for her hands of fire to avoid downloading a softonic (real story). I know this is much harder on Linux than on Windows so "default stuff" should be ok. But any other vulnerability... Should I create the first user (mine) as root and then create a new user for her without the privileges from inside the OS through the GUI or does that not work as well as editing the files from the terminal? Secondary noob question: Let's say she IS using her newly created unprivileged user - could she (or someone else being malicious) use "sudo" in terminal anyway? Or how does it actually work? I understand it as follows: when you install the OS and create your first user with privileges, it doesn't mean you are always root, but it means you could turn into root user - this is why you could use sudo which sounds like it's faster/safer. But another profile without the privileges cannot use sudo (I assume?) and they would see something like "stop, go ask for permission". I'm sure this is wrong lol, but it makes the most sense to me otherwise if someone with no privileges could also use sudo it kinda defeats the purpose.

I cannot think of anyone else other than Veronica to make an exceptional video to such "minor" yet crucial thing when setting up Linux and you haven't learnt about that yet. It would save hours for new users from watching 54 different videos of "how to install linux" and some forums posts to conclude what each thing is for and if it's needed or not.

Hello Veronica. Excellent video as always. Maybe it's because I'm entering the "older" realm (the prelude if you will, since I'm not old yet at 30 but...) but I have this feeling that if we all had teachers like you, the world would be a better place and we would all be super smartz. Or smartzer, even. And I don't mean just 1 teacher, I mean if all of them explained things as well as you do. Second, I have heard from Brodie about the jub-jub incident. Oh, hold on. That's Han Solo. I meant to say dub-dub. I'm from Latin America however I do use my things in English (which creates other annoyances, but I digress). I have not had translations or dubbing automatically yet. Except on SOME videos (like a channel from my country - in Spanish - would have their 2 years old memebrs only videos have their titles be in English for me now, but not the new videos they upload...) and most of those are Spanish. However most of the content I watch is in English. So my assumption is that YouTube now grabs the language you have set on your page and thinks "Ah, Engrish, that means all must be Engrish!" and does it for you. Apparently, folks from Spain for example, that use YT in Spanish but occasionally watch English content, will have that content titles' translated/content dubbed. I know they won't do this because big corporations are really set on to make the example of looking like complete idiots 24/7 but, my easy 2c fix for them (and I say it here because imagine sending them an e-mail hoping someone would read it and implement it) would be for them to A) add the option in preferences to automatically translate/dub and B) add the option to add languages to never translate, since I don't think the idea is completely horrible. In my case for example I'd set Spanish, English and Portuguese to never be translated but if something is in Korean or Japanese, I might need a bit of help. YouTube, if you read my comment, please do this.
