She CAN go to jail because of abandonment of a person in need. The context previously is irrelevant. Something terrible to do, maybe trick the homeless woman for some food? That just makes you a piece of shit (not sure if it would be a misdemeanor?) But the fact they left her there with no help and went away... all 4 or 5 of them could be prosecuted and hopefully go to prison for a while.
