In my country I've never ever seen anyone with a thermostat in their home. Not even the people that might've had "money". We've all had good ventilation, fans, air conditioner units. Maybe a fireplace or good heaters. So maybe all this debacle of "smart devices controlling your home" is a consequence of people having too much for a long time. I'm not saying it should or shouldn't be a certain way. Just something to consider.
