  1. It's because A) they're truly shit or stupid and want to fuck us all because why not or B) they follow the trend they think is going to explode. Tesla came in with "Innovation" and "electric". You CAN try your jab at it. But imagine being Ford and saying "ok, you give us electric? I give you baseline affordable rock solid Mustang" (if they wanted to make a mustang). Or where the money is: Affordable comfortable Ford family soccer mom van. All these companies have made cars with gasoline for ages but since the shiny pretty now is electric, they all want a piece of that pie for no real reason other than... they're glutton fat bastards. I don't understand why companies pretend to be something they are not and they pretend to not like money. You could literally attack the mid-low market worldwide with affordable vehicles that are basic but not cheap (like it used to be before) and you'd make a shit ton of money. I even assume there are places in the US still without electric charging stations. Imagine in other parts of the world. And to travel with a generator on your trunk is the stupidest thing ever. I guess it's the bigger car version of "bring a power bank with you for your phone". But contextually, transporting a dead phjone and charging it is way easier than with a car.
