Steve jobs was all about presentation. What he did that was great for Apple (that they've bombed at since his death), was open the coffers for research and development. I am going off of memory, so I could be wrong but I think during the Jobs years ~30% of the annual budget was going towards product development. And recently I heard is something closer to 3% now going towards new and improved products. If true, it does explain why iPhones went from truly innovative generation to generation, to basically just ripping off Samsung's scraps 3 years after the fact.
