Doesn't matter even if he wins he has no reason to block NATO anymore. He is just trying his best to win votes for the election. Don't be surprised if Sweden and Finland is welcomed shortly after election, even if he wins.

What?! A democratically elected leader has been receiving donations from rich people? Say it ain't so? I cannot think of any example anywhere else in the world where this has happened before 🤣🤣🤣. We can always speculate in various conspiracy theories but just remember these kind of theories exists everywhere. Even in the US plenty of people call Joe Biden a puppet, is he one though? Maybe he is maybe he isn't. Whatever Zelenskyy is he was elected by his people to lead his country and he is doing a great job, he has a sky high approval rating by his people and after every speech he has in the west he receives plenty of support in terms of money and supplies. Is he faking it? perhaps. Is it working? Yes. Isn't that what politics is all about at the end of the day? "An honest politician is an oxymoron". by Mark Twain.

@Έκπληξηρυσός The US has no say in who can or cannot join the EU, truth be told there are many EU countries that do not want to see Russia in the EU - like everyone lol.
1
The end goal is not solely to topple a government, it's to limit it's capability. Look at North Korea, sure the leadership is the same as before but IMAGINE the North Korean state having access to the wealth and GDP of South Korea. Now imagine all that money going into their military... you see how this would be problematic? Sure maybe regime change won't happen but the less money Russia has access to the less it can put into it's military, which is always going to be a good thing for the security of it's neighbours. Without the Sanctions on North Korea they would have been able to pump out nukes like nobody's business.
1
Nah, EU already has enough countries to keep on life support nothing bad against them but we have been pumping cash into failed states like Greece that just ends up teaming up with the Chinese to block EU legislation the CCP does not like in exchange for loans. Not a big fan of adding more of those countries.
1
Of course, all nations always wants whats best for their nation and their citizens,
1
That's not how it works, companies will do whatever is profitable and now they have been jumping on the EV train because governments have been subsidizing this business. They do EV because it generates profits, as soon as the governments decides to subsidize another type of car they will jump on that. Truth be told we don't seem to be running out of oil anytime soon so I don't see how the writing is on the wall. Yeah maybe we will eventually but is that in 50 years, 100 years or 300 years? At the end of the day the everyday person is not going to buy an EV when they come with that price tag, they will pick the cheap alternative. Not because they don't care about the environment but because they cannot afford it. Then add to the fact that the EVS are subsidized and actually would cost more without government support.... they are just too damn expensive to be any realistic option for most people
1
Who cares about Asov they are a regiment of 1000 soldiers in which about 100-200 identifies as Nazi in a 250k Ukrainian army that is 0.0004%. Big deal.
1
Unfortunately there is no correlation between having high IQ or being "smart" and the housing market of your country.
1
Don't think they need to, they just rebuild the dam and make sure no water goes into the region and it will be a huge money waste and burden on the Russian economy. That region is a logistic disaster for the Russians and cost them huge amount of funds to make life sustainable, better to leave it be and focus on holding off any Russian advancement into Donbas.
1
Yep the US and Turkey will make a deal under the table and then Erdogan will be happy
1
There was a time in Turkey before Erdogan came to power when they were actually quite decent.
1
They are not Russian based, sorry. Don't worry I am sure your regime will ban youtube soon then you can use the Russian version where everything is pro Putin.
1
@Cam-sl8ve Why would Germany waste time and money on solar or wind, 70% of France's electricity is nuclear and Germany has a shit ton of coal they can burn. Nuclear and Coal is what Germany are going to use. Solar and wind is not as effective and very inconsistent, a day with no sun or wind and production drops massively. Nuclear and Coal you can regulate up and down dependent on your needs. Obviously Nuclear will take time but Coal they have plenty of and I would not be surprised if they ditched the Paris accords to survive the winter.
1
@anthonydyer3939 Germany has already announced they will open up nuclear power plants and they got a shit ton of Coal to burn if they need to during winter. Solar and Wind is not very reliable or effective with today's technology.
1
As a European I would prefer NATO over a EU army. I mean if the idea of the EU army would be more like a military alliance then I guess that's fine but if we're going to have some people in Brussels deciding military matters for nation states then no thank you, bad idea. I don't always agree with the Americans and they have a really weak president right now but even so I have less faith in Brussels.
1
We need somebody like Trump we are getting destroyed by the Brussel immigration policies.
1
@oreinigpb 2035 won't happen, all member states needs to sign off on it. There is no way that will ever happen.
1
@MrDanisve I think we have to realize that when Erdogan is saying terrorist in our world that would be political opposition. For Erdogan anyone that oppose him politically is a terrorist.
1
From a fellow Swede, not all European countries are as well off as Sweden and Sweden has almost 3x higher electricity use per capita than countries like Italy or Spain. Gas is a cheaper way to get heating and electricity. So it's not because we're smarter it's just we waste a lot more energy than our European counterparts and are willing to pay extra for the convenience of other energy sources over gas. In Sweden many people keep the heating on while they go to work so they can get home to a warm home in winter, in other European countries a lot of people doesn't even turn the heating on even during the winter.
1
They always stop for maintenance, it was announced they would do that for that date long before the war started. I would not worry about it, Russia needs the money - the gas will be back up.
1
It's not Turkey, it's Erdogan.
1
prices are not too bad if you start looking outside the capital (Stockholm). What you can find in Stockholm you can find in another city for half the price.
1
@troublemaker1778 Well to be fair plenty of people even in the US congress and Senate, especially on the Democratic side has shown admiration for figures such as Che Guevara and Fidel Castro. A notable example is Bernie Sanders who almost won the nomination to be the democratic candidate twice. That's the same guy that spent his honeymoon going to the USSR back in the day.
1
It's not universal, in some countries it's the opposite. Where I am from old folks tend to vote conservative and the young vote left. You go to a university here you would think you are living in Cuba - universities are breathing grounds for left wing policies here.
1
Hah not sure how that works out but I used to live and work in Sweden and worked my ass of one month - lots of overtime. When I saw the salary slip I realized I worked myself into a higher tax bracket. There literally was no point doing overtime I just increased my tax rate making each hour worth less.
1
Then why are the working class in Capitalist countries better off than the working class in communist countries? The concentration of Wealth and power is a lot more noticeable in countries such as China, N. Korea and Venezuela than they are in Western Europe. I am an expat in a communist country, people cleaning toilets in my European home country have higher salary than what people consider Middle class here.
1
It's no secret that Russia has had it's eyes on the Swedish Island of Gotland for a very long time. Most of Sweden's military practices and focus has always been to defend from a Russian invasion. As for Finland their military has prepared for a military conflict with the Soviets and then Russia since the last time they were invaded.
1
It matters little to Putin, he would simply just fabricate another excuse to invade Ukraine. If it's not about Denazification it's about something else. But yes it's an interesting point. Also one of his main motivations was to prevent NATO surrounding Russia. But a possible result of the invasion is Finland joining NATO which also borders Russia so the invasion would be very counter productive in this regard too.
1
Huge power spike economically? Turkey has a worse economy than Spain even before they got their inflation and Spain's economy is considered very bad based on European standards. It will be a nice addition geographically but Turkey's economy is very weak and they won't contribute much to the EU market. Turkey wants to join to gain free access to the European market. Erdogan is free to create his own "Turkic Union" if he wants but I seriously doubt it will rival the economically benefits of having full access to the EU market. I don't fully disagree with all your points I just don't think adding Turkey will add much to the EU economy - it's a weak economy.
1
Why not? If you want to join you apply for a membership and if all NATO members agree then you are in. That's all that matters.
1
@jonizymberi6787 Sorry I am not from that part of the world but I think when Greece was fighting for their independence against the Ottoman Empire the Ottoman troops sent a lot of Albanian Ottoman soldiers against the Greeks, also wasn't the Albanians involved in the Greek civil war of 1946 when they supported the Greek communist army? I am not saying Greece was right to expel Albanians from Epirus but I know there's a lot of tension between these countries for a long time they have been on opposite sides and Albania has been meddling in Greek affairs many times in history (I am sure the Greeks have interfered in Albanian affairs too :b)
1
Ehm okay so basically we ban the cheap alternative to transporting goods which will lead to increased cost to companies which in turn will have to raise the price of their goods to make up for the increased cost making products too expensive for people to afford leading to the companies to sell less and having to downsize to survive. Yeah I am sorry you obviously have not worked within logistics before. Logistics is a very important factor in company growth. What jobs would open up by making people having to resort to fork out 60k Euros for a tesla and companies having to invest money into EV trucks for transport? Perhaps you are thinking about the people that cannot afford these changes and will have to transport goods by walking for long distances, yeah surely that will keep people occupied I guess? Obviously limiting people's access to cars will have an impact on the job market, 60k Euros for a tesla is not feasible for the working class.
1
Green energy has no future with current technology it's time to face the hard reality, the most reliable energy will come from nuclear power and Germany has already started building those. Also if shit hits the fan Europe is loaded with Coal and while not very good for the environment it's better than freezing to death. There are alternatives they are just not very clean but right now the green agenda can sit on the side until the energy crisis is over.
1
@othalabro8663 The way Putin defines Nazis is anti-Russian. In the west we would call them Nationalist right wingers. They would still be considered extremists but not Nazis. We associate Nazis with antisemitism and these guys fight with Jews in their regiment and fight for a Jew. Their leader is even in this video saying he is looking up to Israel. Basic Nazi 101 - hate Jews. These guys are not Nazis, sorry. Only one calling them Nazis is Putin.
1
It's a designated Terrorist organization in Sweden. So you are basically saying the government is secretly supporting an organization that it itself designated as a terrorist organization lol? You like conspiracy theories?
1
Yeah sorry man if you are talking about the US it's more likely aid for Palestine will be suspended long before aid for Israel will. Israel are our allies, Palestinians are just hustling our aid money.
1
They are not threatened in the same way as Sweden and Finland are in Russia's sphere of interest so I don't see why they would consider that.
1
@MikeRidesEU I would rather be in a military alliance than having some douche sitting in Brussels dictating what our military is going to do and not do. NATO is just an alliance what you are talking about is handing over our military to bureaucrats in Brussels. At least in NATO we could make our own choices as long as we reach that 2% GDP spending.
1
I thought 75% of the vote was required to join NATO. At least that's what I read from the major Swedish news outlets that they need both SD AND S to vote yes.
1
@paddington1670 I love nuclear I must say though Hydro is pretty good if your geology allows it, Swedish here, 45% of our energy is from Hydro. Our wind and solar panels are shit though, people were so excited about them and whole areas went fully solar and wind. Now they regret it because they will get a power outage when the sun stops shining or wind stops blowing. Hydro is consistent and nuclear you can crank it up or turn it down when you need to. Nuclear is great and we shouldn't shut them down, the excess energy we get it sold to Germany - even if we don't need the extra energy we can sell it and Germany needs all help they can get - win-win it would seem. The greens don't agree though obviously.
1
@jupiterbirlesikgezegenleri9884 Erdogan knows he won't get any extraditions through and the white house just magically announced they support Turkey buying their F16 that they have been blocked to do just hours after Erdogan signed the deal. This was never about terrorists it was about weapons all along, Erdogan got his weapons now he announces victory in Turkey for his victory lap and Sweden and Finland stand there confused why he accepted when they refused all demands except selling Turkey weapons. LoL. Sweden and Finland lifted the arms embargo and promised to take Turkey's concerns seriously. Other than that no changes.
1
@shauncameron8390 And then what will happen? The rich will just take their money and move elsewhere. Just look at New York losing their wealthy residents to states like Florida due to their policies. I would just prefer smaller government and less government spending = less money needed = lower taxes. Stop sending foreign aid, stop all these social programs, shrink the military, shrink government employees. Less money needed to run government, less need to overtax your citizens. Do we really need to send all that aid money to foreign conflicts all over the world? Gaza, Israel, Ukraine etc.
1
They won't be kicked out but they will probably get the cold shoulder treatment from the rest of NATO.
1
True but on 12 March 2024, the European Parliament passed a resolution confirming Armenia meets Maastricht Treaty Article 49 requirements and that the country may apply for EU membership. Georgia has also been granted as a valid candidate. It's all political more than anything geography doesn't mean much. It should but it doesn't.
1
@evolassunglasses4673 There was never any urgent need for them to move East, the Russian advance stopped quite a while ago there and even in the South it has reversed. I could see the logic if the Russians kept gaining ground to the East and South but they didn't. Now the troops have been sitting in Russia for 10 days giving Kyiv plenty of time reinforce the East in preparation.
1
You didn't watch the video? He did say it's unlikely and won't happen due to the size of the military and the strategic importance? So basically you just read the name of the video and assumed that was his stance lol? I will admit it's a little bit click-bait but you obviously did not watch the whole video my man.
1
They are too busy spending all that tax money on immigrants from the Middle East.
1
Maybe they should have thought about that before they invaded Ukraine.
1
It's already been discussed in the Swedish government about requirements limiting foreign troops on Swedish soil and a big no-no making Sweden part of NATO's nuclear weapons umbrella. I am sure the Finns will have similar reservations.
