  1. Peacing out with Iran? Hardly likely, Iran is Shia and Saudi is considering itself as the leader of Sunni Muslims. Shia and Sunni have been fighting each others for more than 1400 years. I don't think that will stop just like that. Perhaps they will chill out for a year or two but in the long run they won't be friends unless there would be a religious shift in one of the countries.

The tax payers obviously. When will they start paying tax, as they are minors and teenagers without high school education we are talking about at least 5-10 years in the Swedish education system at least? Some will A) Go back home B) Be on unemployment benefits after graduation C) Get a low income job. If you were talking about the highly educated Iranians that came to Sweden 20-30 years ago with university degrees then I would agree with you they don't use the social welfare and they get into the work force easily. Afghan and Syrian teenagers without even a high school education though... yeah that's not a net positive no matter how you try to twist it. Individually some will have great success but on average, no.

  11.  @bearcubdaycare  They are allowed to invest in other ways it's just this is the safest way, their stock market is very volatile and corrupt. As for apartments it's always been a safe investment as you generally need to own an apartment to get married in China so there's always a demand.

  15. True but taking into consideration human rights comes with a lot of benefits such as western foreign and humanitarian aid money. China is not giving anything for free. To me it just sounds like many of these nations would love to keep the foreign aid money just because and ignore everything that comes with it. You cannot have both, either you fulfill the requirements for receiving aid or you don’t and say goodbye to the money.

If you want to put CCP in a good light Chinese culture is the last thing you should mention... Seriously get a history book and read about what and why Mao initiated the cultural revolution in China... Preserving culture is the opposite of what they have been doing for the last 80 years Christ man how can you miss such an obvious fact... This is why history is such an important subject.

  36. No, they called up 360.000 reserves a few thousand refusing is nothing to them, their population is very motivated to fight as they see it as a fight for their survival. You also have to realize they have a standing army of 170.000 already. They still have another 100.000 of reserves they could call up. All these numbers are in peacetimes by the way. In war they have even more people they can call up. The total number of active troops and reserves are more than 600.000 during peacetime.

I live in China, western vaccines are not allowed here at all, at least in some foreign countries you have the option to take a Chinese vaccine, in China nothing other than a Chinese vaccine is allowed. The Chinese Government is just as good at playing the boycott and business competition game as some western powers.

  40. Sadly western vaccines although better does little to stop Omicron, a lot of European countries have stopped giving vaccines to their populations. Honestly though the virus is so harmless these days that you don't need a vaccine. Even if you have a vaccine you will still get the virus and it won't kill you even if you were not vaccinated.

  43. Nah the 21st century has been pretty peaceful considering the last century was filled with warfare. Israel vs Palestine and Russia vs Ukraine is very small scale if you compare them to ww1 and 2.

As sad as it sounds Zero-covid is Xi's policy and scrapping it would mean he was wrong and lose face which could encourage rivals to oust him from power. So while it might sound silly not losing face is more important to the leadership than actual logic. Chinese leaders never want to show weakness, they have been dying their hair black fearing whitening hair would be a sign of weakness so.... yeah they care a lot (just look at Jiang being 96 years old and not having white hair).
