  2. Why not, this is the first time we've seen protests of this scale and magnitude against the regime since then. Just because they don't match the size yet doesn't mean they will stay limited given time.

  3. Sadly western vaccines although better does little to stop Omicron, a lot of European countries have stopped giving vaccines to their populations. Honestly though the virus is so harmless these days that you don't need a vaccine. Even if you have a vaccine you will still get the virus and it won't kill you even if you were not vaccinated.

  5.  @coconutcore  Their plan is political survival, they don't care if millions die as long as they are in power. As sad as it sounds Zero-covid is Xi's policy and scrapping it would mean he was wrong and lose face which could encourage rivals to oust him from power. So while it might sound silly not losing face is more important to the leadership than actual logic. Chinese leaders never want to show weakness, they have been dying their hair black fearing whitening hair would be a sign of weakness so.... yeah they care a lot (just look at Jiang being 96 years old and not having white hair).
