I like the way it says "China's government says communist forces were the center pillar in the war" then the next info you see is the casualty list 1.3 million Nationalist soldiers and 160.000 communist troops lol says it all really.

Lived in China for 7 years I was considering leaving after Chinese new year in February but decided to stay until summer, totally regret that now 😒😒😒

@rheejin9987 Yeah fair point, sorry if I came out a bit rude I thought you were one of China's 50 cent army bots.

@rheejin9987 What do you expect, there is little love for dictatorships in the western world.
3
@rheejin9987 Then you clearly don't understand political terms, just because one side wins an election in a landslide doesn't mean it's suddenly a dictatorship. Come next election you can still vote him out can you not? A dictatorship would be if President Moon said there won't be anymore elections and he will be the president for life - now that would be a dictatorship. Can't believe I actually have to explain this, don't they teach this in your school system?

It's not just Shanghai foreigners all over China are leaving. My wife is Chinese and she loves her country and the CCP even she is telling me we need to leave as soon as we can.
3
Yes I have family in Shanghai 200RMB/JIN for beef (400RMB/KG) in dollars that's 61 dollars / KG. And that's for people not even making half of what the average US person does.

Don't it will be thrown away. Chinese are scared to death of packages from foreign countries the government has blamed the COVID outbreaks on things like Norwegian Salmon.
2
@rheejin9987 Surely you are talking about North Korea now... South Korea has these things called elections where people cast their votes which makes them a democracy believe it or not lol.

@maxxiong It's Shanghai, most local government officials also hold positions in the National government. Li Qiang is the top official for Shanghai and he is also part of the national committee and the 25 man CCP politburo. The premier Sun is overseeing the pandemic measures in Shanghai, it's all being controlled from the very top of the CCP echelons and still the local government becomes a scape-goat somehow. I have family in Shanghai too 200 RMB for one jin (400 RMB/kilo) to buy beef. Parents separated from their children, pets being tested for COVID, pets killed when their owner tests positive, lack of food, 3-7 years in prison for not doing the daily PCR testings. I like Shanghai for all the reasons you mentioned it's like any western metropolis and it's standard of living is very high. Unfortunately the policy comes straight from Beijing and there is nothing the Shanghai government or the Shanghai people can do about it. Zero-COVID policy, no exception - premier Sun is in charge and whatever Beijing wants Beijing gets that's just how life is in China. Just have to accept it.

Trust me people in China are taking notes of what is happening in Shanghai my city just reported 5 cases and the next morning the supermarkets were completely empty of vegetables, meat, rice and fast noodles lol.
1
I am in China and we got a month of unpaid holiday because we have 3 positive cases in our city and we're not allowed to go to work because of it lol. Over here you don't work you don't get paid doesn't matter what reason or if it's your fault or not.

Why is herd immunity a failure of disease control? You do realize that the GOAL of vaccines in the first place is to reach herd immunity....? That is literally one of the main goals with Vaccinations... I don't think you fully understand what herd immunity is.

LoL Covid thousands positive patients are sharing bathrooms and live packed in a small area and need to clean it by themselves? So much for a sterile environment. With such circumstances they will spread a lot of other diseases between them, not just Covid.
1
Yep they have a problem with food deliveries, not even the truck drivers want to go there anymore because once they deliver the food for the starving residents they get stuck in a quarantine for entering shanghai lol. Nobody wants to deliver food there anymore.
1
You really think they lock down a huuuge amount of people creating economic hardship over a single case? When you lock down millions of people obviously there are more than a few hundred cases.
1
Everyone in Shanghai is already locked in their homes
1
It's not uncommon in China to eat animals while they are still alive.
1
Yes they have started to feel pressure from the population. They claim 92% of Shanghai's residents have gotten the vaccine and that their vaccine is 98.2% effective against Omicron yet they have decided to lock everyone down in their homes and they have high infection rates. Even Chinese people are starting to doubt the official numbers for vaccination effectiveness and the low death rate.

@swag2be578 Have you been to an American hospital? It's a lot cleaner than that, they have hot water and the staff clean their bathrooms. I suppose if that's the Chinese VIP standard I can get your point since she should be used to worse but that's pretty bad if you compare it to America to be honest.
1
@jiayinng8120 Yeah it's totally NOT okay to blame the Chinese government for incompetence because you know the US... Classic Chinese counter for everything, the US. Protests in HK, must be CIA. Stock crash, US investors crashed it. Racism in China well look at the US.... you get the point.
