@shadesmarerik4112 Extracting and transporting oil is still a source of concern, like the leaks at the BP oil rig hell they even shutdown the keystone pipeline on oil leak pretexts. It's just a bit of irony that some (not all) of the people being so anti anything to do with fossil fuel have no idea that creating "green energy" is and can be reliant on raw materials that are environmental unfriendly. Take for example the hailed electric cars in reaching 0 carbon emissions when they are charged by electric powering stations generating electricity from burning coal.

And those blades were made out of thin air magic using 0 oil, gas or coal right? And when they get obsolete from wear they magically disappear and are not actually Buried underground taking several hundreds of years to disappear right? The actual truth is EVEN BEFORE those blade started turning for the first time they had actually created pollution. Don't get me wrong green energy is the future the only real question is with today's technology are they efficient enough and how environmental friendly are they to produce? Just the fact that the blades cannot be recycled and will have to be buried for many generations to come is a huge problem when trying to advocate for their environmental friendliness.

It's a matter of cost too, green energy is big business trying to make it as profitable as possible just like any other business. I am sure they could use a metal cover but most likely the increased cost just isn't worth it for them. Just like in some cases it's cheaper for Apple to replace your IPAD with a brand new one that it actually is for them to send it to a repair shop. It probably is cheaper for them to maintain it or replace it than to spend more money making it more durable with better quality materials.

That's not what the companies hiring them to make the blades want though. They want a cheap solution that can generate them more profits and keeping costs down, sure they could use quality material to make them more durable but that would increase the cost and scare away customers if they charge too much for their electricity. You have to remember it's big business running these things - the CEO's and the share holders are still looking for those million dollar bonuses for themselves.

Or we could just choose to tolerate people with a different opinion than our own. Well at least you did not call them racists I guess that's an improvement that's usually what people seem to call others that disagree with them these days do.

Yes of course but they are a business and they are there to maximize profit, if it's cheaper to make a totally new blade with cheap material every 5 years than to use some titanium covering then they will. As much as they are marketing themselves as saving the planet they are companies too and will chose whichever alternative provides the best profit for them regardless of the cost to the environment.

@ashleyhansen6150 Well Nuclear energy represents more than 50% of all "clean" energy production in the US shutting that down and you would have to start relying more on coal. Is that a better plan? No matter how you twist and turn we need Nuclear energy, wind power sounds great in theory but in practice it is nowhere near enough in terms of reliability and output.
