  2. Most of them are volunteers very few foreigners are getting paid anything more than food and logistics. Mercenaries fight for money, if they don't get any money they are not mercenaries they are volunteers.

  6.  @Кипящийразум  Prisoner exchange, there's been plenty of them already. The Ukrainians are holding Russian soldiers too and they frequently exchange prisoners of war.

  7.  @jourdinkapicka8768  Death sentence? I am surprised, I figured the Russians wanted to exchange prisoners if they are going to start killing enemy prisoners I am pretty sure the Ukrainians will do the same to the Russian soldiers in their captivity if they are not doing so already.

  10. They are only considered mercenaries or contractors if they get paid, if not they would be volunteers. Not sure if that changes the anything in terms of the Geneva convention though.
