Yep, it's the same as expanding the electric grid to charge electric vehicles with tax money. People that cannot afford EVs are funding the construction of charging stations for the rich people that can afford the cars. It's just a scheme paid for by the poor to aid the rich.

+ another 100k for the Tesla car.
2
The panels/tiles should be alright but the batteries yeah... you do not want a fire in that house with giant electric batteries in there.
1
Yes it's a major fire hazard, even if the batteries themselves don't catch fire if anything else in the house catches fire and reaches the batteries... holy F get the F out of the house.
1
There's quite a few companies that got sued because they promised Zero in electricity bills and it turned out to not be the case.
1
Just adding a charging station at home can run anywhere from 1k-7k depending on your needs and location. There is a lot of hidden costs.
1
He can't without adding his 100k Tesla car to the equation, it would inflate the numbers and double the payback period.
1
Also a lot can happen in 10 years, new technology, lower electricity prices etc.
1
Nah, then he would have to add the car purchase to the total cost and make the payback time even longer. Teslas are not cheap, depending on which model he got he might have to add another 100k to the total cost and make the payback time double.
1
You forgot the $120k upfront cost, add another $100k for the car.
1
He has a Tesla car, feel free to add another 100k to his total cost and double the pay off time lol. Teslas are not cheap cars.
1
It was 120k, the government paid for 30k in tax breaks.
1
Yeah don't warranty doesn't last longer than that - most likely you will have to replace batteries, roof tiles/panels etc. not worth it.
1
What's stupid is the government made people not being able to afford solar power system fund rich people buying solar power systems that turned out to be useless and end up with extra bills anyway. It's like my government giving subsidies to people buying Teslas for 100k, poor people that cannot afford a car is subsidising somebody that has 100k to spend on a car. It's such a scam.
1
How many people can cough up 100k for solar panels and another 100k for a Tesla in Africa?
1
How can you count in the savings for not driving a petrol car without adding the car to the total cost? A tesla, depending on the model could easily double that total cost and push back the payback time to 20 years. I think counting in the savings on petrol without adding the cost of the car would intentionally mislead people thinking you save more money than you actually do. A Tesla can go for anywhere from 40k - 130k.
1
Not to mention if electricity gets cheaper....
1
Yes, so basically the working class is paying for systems and technologies they could never hope to afford for the rich that can afford them. It's a big scam. The government should not subsidize toys for the rich.
1
Add a 100k Tesla car to the equation, I am not sure I would even if I was on 600k a year tbh.
1
add another 70-100k for the Tesla car and yeah you will break even in 20 years assuming electricity doesn't get cheaper, then you kind of effed up.
1
Then he would have to add 1k-7k for the charging station he has to install at home and then his Tesla on top of that which is anywhere between 40k-130k. Say he bought a mid range model that's 80k extra to add to the total cost. The payback period would almost double.
1
Because then he would have to add an extra 1-7k for a at home charging station set up and another 40-130k for his Tesla car which would double his projected payback period pushing it back to 20 years putting most people off the system.
1
You would probably have to earn seven figures to make it a viable option.
1
I don't think the government should cover any cost, if you have 120k left over to spend on electricity you sure as hell don't need the government to step in and pay for you from the taxpayers pockets.
1
Because his Tesla car would add another 100k to his total costs and double how long it takes to get the money back.
1
Then he would have to add the cost of his Tesla which, depending on the model, could double his total costs and add the cost to set up a charge station at home doubling the payback period putting it at 20 years. Teslas are not cheap. A Tesla is anywhere from 40k to 130k.

Germany is nowhere near as hot as America.
