I guess you never heard of The Ukrainian National Revival during the 1700s and 1800s or the Kievan Rus during the Middle ages.

@bubiruski8067 The Soviets would have invaded Poland regardless if they lost ground in previous wars or not, the USSR was an empire in it's own right and they had no issues creating reasons to expand their borders no matter if they had legitimate reasons or not. Fast forward 100 years later and it's the same story, Russians having imperial ambitions making up reasons to expand their borders once more. Some things never changes.

@benofbens6446 You have shoes dating back to the Kievan rus? That's pretty impressive.
1
@hvermout4248 You are confused, there is no direct line between the Kiev Rus and Moscow, the Muscovites just used the earlier Kievan rus period to justify their expansion into that territory. The Kievan rus did not even speak the same language as the Muscovites the Kievan rus language evolved into... wait for it... wait for it.... Ukrainian.... while the Muscovite language evolved into Russian.... big surprise huh?
1
...... are the new masters of Moscow?
1
No, Ukrainians are not Russians. That's just Russian propaganda.

@НиколаНикола-э6г Did you know that the Russian language evolved from the Muscovites? Probably, yes this is pretty obvious. But from where did Ukrainian come from? Well, the Kievan rus state during the Middle ages. There's a language split going back more than a thousand years between the people living in Ukraine and the people living in Moscow/Russian territory.
1
Then why was there a Ukrainian language?
1
They did, they just chose to live with their western neighbours instead of their hostile eastern ones.

The Ukrainian language can be traced back all the way to the Kievan rus state during the middle ages which is to where Ukraine can trace their roots. Russians trace their way back to Muscovy (Moscow). They were never oppressed huh? Did you ever hear of the "Ukrainian National Revival" and the following uprisings? How about the Kyiv uprising in 1855 or the Brotherhood of Saint Cyril and Methodius? Also the Russian rulers conquered Ukraine from the Mongol step nomads that occupied it before the rise of Moscow. It was a conquest not some people coming hat in hand saying please let us join you, the Russians sent military expeditions into Ukraine for a long period before they eventually conquered all of it. You make it sound like the Russian expansion was conducted peacefully with the support of the conquered peoples, it was not - Moscow expanded using her armies.
