  1. That's usually what happens when you have the same small elite sitting on power for that long, all the money gained by the state goes into their pockets instead of back to the people. And yes them being religious fanatics doesn't help either - just making things worse.

  2.  @michaelgreene1260  It is not about quantity it is about quality. Just take a look at where most scientific breakthrough comes from and from which country the most important inventions come from. China has a lot of people and a big mark on the global economy but they cannot even make their own electronic chips for the next gen mobile phones. If the US and the west cut off their access their economy will fall and they will fall back 20 years. It's not just about numbers, it's about innovation and technology too. Besides it is not just America, Europe and plenty of Asian countries like S. Korea and Japan are western leaning.

  13.  @delorescrossgrove6016  Who cares, might makes right. China has claimed a lot of international water as its own, nobody does anything because they are strong. Russia decided to break their treaty and attack Ukraine.. because they thought they were stronger. Treaties matter very little when the strong play politics.

  14. While I am all for Moldova being free from Russian influence I don't see how they would contribute to the EU, just another country draining aid while not providing much. We already have plenty of those.

  17.  @kevinmcelligott8573  Iran does not have Russia, China or Turkey. There is no way those nations will put their neck out for Iran, they will not die on that hill. Iran just is not worth it, very small economy. Yeah maybe they will make statements but you really thing China will risk US and western sanctions by putting troops out there or send military aid to Iran - really? They will support Iran with words, that's it.
