@jonathanchen5902 That's not how demographics work, China is an economic powerhouse because, as it is sitting right now the main bulk of the population is at the prime working age 35-50 years old. The problem will come years later when that group retires and will leave a massive burden on the next generation as they are far fewer and will have to support a massive aging population of retirees. China did recently remove the one child policy and is REALLY REALLY trying to get more people to have more than one kid - why do you think that is? You go from one child policy for decades with heavy punishment for breaking it to PLEASE HAVE AS MANY AS POSSIBLE within a few years. Obviously the government realized this is going to be a massive problem in the future with a shrinking workforce and and the bulk of your population at retirement age. It's basic demographics, it will slow down the economical growth substantially.
