@maciej6293 Well to be fair it's not like the western companies forced China to let them in and make room for all these factories adopting no law to reduce the pollution in favour of the Economy. China is happy to have them there, that's why they won't raise the salaries and make stricter laws to curb the pollution from the factories because then these companies will go to another country and the Chinese economy will suffer. I mean why are these companies in China? Because in China you can abuse your employees with low salaries and long hours without having to worry about the environment. I am not defending these companies, all they care about is making a profit but in the end it's the Chinese government's job to take care of their nation and the Chinese people. How about raising the salaries, give more days off, make more restrictions and laws to reduce the pollution? Don't want to? Well then this will continue. Why should western companies be held responsible for the Chinese government's failure to provide their citizens with fresh water and clean air?

@xxxcool2565 You think the whole world will come to an end if China stops producing goods? The reason most goods are produced in China right now is because of production cost, it has nothing to do with Chinese workers being better than the rest they just simply work more for less cost to the company. Once that change you will see companies and factories moving on to whatever country provides the cheapest labor costs. A lot of companies have already made the shift towards Vietnam and other countries.

@anders damin Nah I think a company should respect and follow the rules in whatever country they operate. If a US company opens business in China they MUST follow Chinese laws, they can't bring US laws to China. I don't like that way of thinking it's taking responsibility away from the real issue which is the Chinese government - say you make it illegal for US companies to exploit Chinese workers what will happen? Well US companies will open factories somewhere else and those Chinese workers will get exploited by other companies. If you feel like Chinese workers are exploited and you want to improve their situation then the real issue is the Chinese government, it's not the western companies fault that China doesn't care that their citizens get exploited by foreign and domestic companies.

@xxxcool2565 I am sorry but if you think moving to a country that pays workers 10 cents more per hour is going to drive up the price of an Iphone 11 from 700 dollars to 3500 you are stupid. Nike and Adidas moved to Vietnam two years ago, their prices are the same lol. 5x the price? lol get real.

@anders damin Yes of course personal morals have a part in it. Big business tend to not have these moral issues though, which is one of the reason they are "big" business. I salute you for taking that stance and I would also face the same issue. However I am also aware that I would (if I owned a business producing stuff that's in part made in CHina) not be able to compete with a company that did. For example there are two companies located next to each other selling the exact same product. Company A makes the product in America and give their workers a fair wage. Company B makes the product in China for half the price by Chinese labor for a low wage. Company B will eventually force Company A to close due to being able to present their customers with the same product for a much lower price. That's economics 101. So yeah I totally hear you and agree with you, it's a moral choice you have to make to open a factory in China. Unfortunately morals don't go well with business hence you see these big companies going to whichever country can provide them with cheap labour. I just think it is and should be the government's job to protect their citizens from corporations like these, we can't expect big corporations to make a moral choice that runs opposite of the nature of economics. So I don't blame those corporations, they follow the laws within the country they are operating in. It is up to the Chinese government to make sure their citizens are not abused and put pressure (or laws) regulating the companies and raising the minimum wage.

@anders damin Well they will certainly have an advantage amongst the group of consumers that value that over a cheap product. I'd say that target group is smaller but I suppose US made is on the rise since Trump came to office. So yeah maybe in the near future you might be right.
