@JP-sb6ll I think you confuse invade and raid, there has been no evidence whatsoever of any attempts to invade and settle the Iberian peninsula by the vikings at that time and pretty much everyone refers to the event of 844 as a raid. It is generally estimated they had between 30 - 70 ships which usually contained 50-60 warriors each so would have been between 1500-3500 men which is larger than the average raid at the time but hardly any real threat to overthrow an entire nation. Viking raids were generally small-scaled and relied on striking and leaving fast before any significant resistance could be mounted against them. Most of the time they were caught by a real army they were massively outnumbered and slaughtered.
