I am pretty sure Western companies are not allowed to own shares in Chinese ports. I live in China and as a foreigner I am not even allowed to own a house/apartment and I cannot open my own business without a Chinese citizen co-owner owning 50% of my business. I really doubt the Chinese would allow me as a foreigner to buy shares in their infrastructure.

@southkoreausasmaster8805 It's the other way around buddy, America started out as a colony of the European powers. The Americans of today are descendants of Europeans. We're pretty much the same people, same culture, same language etc.

Yeah same here been in China for 8 years used to be a lot different. When I arrived people were talking about the advantages of knowing Chinese for international business now companies are leaving China in droves.

Americans are the descendants of Europeans, same language, same moral values, same culture, same religion etc. It's not odd at all.

Adidas and Nike moved to Vietnam a while back, that's just off the top of my head.

@brianliew5901 Not really a lot of European and American companies have stopped using certain materials such as cotton from China. In America if the customs finds out the products are made with Chinese cotton they will throw them away and give the company a fine.

Yeah and actually it can be used as leverage, just look what the US did to Russia's foreign assets when they invaded Ukraine. I would imagine China is aware there is a risk the US can freeze or seize their assets like they did to Russia and that might deter them to go to war over a certain Island.

Didn't Lithuania open a Taiwanese Embassy in Vilnius or am I confusing Lithuania with Estonia or Latvia?

I am from Sweden, it was in our exclusive economic zone that two of the explosions that destroyed the pipelines happened. In no way shape or form has our government or investigation into the matter claimed America is responsible. I am not sure why you would make such a claim, I mean we can all guess but that would be your own guess. So far there has not been any evidence pointing either way. There is a story circling around that some Ukrainians had hired a boat around the time and traces of explosives were found on it but that's from an anonymous German source and the Swedish government has said it have no such information so it's hard to say if it's real or just Russian attempts to shift blame to Ukraine for the explosions. I am not sure what a UN investigation would change to me it sound like a political ploy, my country Sweden, Denmark and Germany are already conducting investigations into it since it happened on our territory regardless of the political game being played in the UN.

Yeah same here perhaps I am missing something, the EU seized and froze Russian assets when they invaded Ukraine so I figured it's a double edged sword. Yeah China can wield its influence but European countries can just seize it anytime they want if they feel it is justified.
