@pl3317 Especially since a lot of valuable resources were discovered there right? Russia didn't care one bit about Crimea then suddenly huge deposits of natural gas and oil was discovered and boom - invasion and annexation.

@anvuong1099 Oh noes, poor dictators and Islamic terrorists I feel so bad for them. NOT.

@hashiratanjirou Perhaps that's something the Japanese should have thought about before they started the war and committed Genocide and atrocities all over Asia?
11
Could be a kickass beach resort.

@SeriousDragonify No it's not an Orthodox tradition to use the old Julian calendar. Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian and Antiochian Churches use the Gregorian calendar and celebrate Xmas in the 25th. It's mostly just Russia and Serbia that use the old Julian calendar.

@srinivasanrajagopal9062 Yes, and it's in Sweden's and Finland's best interest to join NATO to protect themselves from a warmongering neighbour that constantly threatens them. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.
7
The people that started a war and lost? Nah losing wars have consequences. When in history did the losing side of a war dictate terms?
5
I think we're beyond that point now these last weeks have shown that it is a major security concern for the refs, players, coaches and away fans. There is no way to guarantee their safety during a pitch invasion. Sooner or later one of the fans is going to bring something they shouldn't and seriously injure someone. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we'd see stricter application of rules next seasons for both fans and the clubs respectively. If the fans cannot behave and the club cannot stop their fans from this behaviour then obviously more radical solutions like empty stadiums for the season ending games is looking more likely. Obviously I am not for that but if this is how it's going to be going forward then something like this is going to happen. It's a shame that a minority is going to ruin it for the rest of us but if the club and security cannot guarantee safety for the staff/players etc then it's what needs to happen.

He did what he thought was right and he sacrificed his life for the people of Ukraine.
4
It already was an endless war to begin with lol
4
@erosgritti5171 They survived, the Russians wanted to replace the Finish government with a communist one but Finland fought them back and managed to defend their independence. Sure they lost some territory but they remained an independent nation against all odds - sounds like a victory to me.
3
Because the "mourners" were bringing stones and Molotov cocktails
3
Great public speaker, very charismatic - horrible policies. I am not sure that is the kind of politician we want, sweet talker that gets absolutely nothing of value done.
2
@RakNtaK Then why was it given from the Russian SFSR to the Ukrainian SSR in 1953?
2
They are called the Finnish army they go and "finish" the job ^_^
2
@AtifAli-dc6cr It's not yet been confirmed if she was hit by an Israeli soldier or not
2
Not really, nobody knows yet who actually shot her. The investigation is still ongoing.
2
@aggelos1053 I am pretty sure it's the other way around the Russians use the Old Julian calendar.
2
Not really, Putin is aggressive but he knows the minute he starts fingering on that nuke button he will have hundreds of them raining down all over Russia and at that point it's over.
1
They say the same about Islam yet there are almost no people from religious minorities left in the Middle East.
1
They are turning their backs on Russian traditions.
1
@poopyanalbumhole Well hopefully Russia will think twice about threatening and invading its neighbours if it will just push its neighbours to join NATO.
1
@TriVos Ahren NATO is a defensive alliance, if NATO countries had a problem with the US putting troops on their territory then why are nations bordering Russia begging the US to post more troops on their borders?
1
So it's a western tradition to follow the Gregorian calendar? Better let China and 99% of the world know as everyone is following the Gregorian calendar.
1
They are not changing their traditions they just changed the calendar to celebrate Christmas with their peaceful Orthodox Christian brothers.
1
It's just a choice between the Julian and Gregorian calendar. That's it.
1
@anitakoch3895 Why is that miscalculation? The Jews in Israel are very friendly towards the West while most Muslim countries in the Area is chanting death to America. I think we made the right decision.
1
He is already on his third term.
1
Hamas have executed Palestinians plenty of times I am sure they would not hesitate if they had to.
1
maybe but what are the consequences? Killed their own economy and lost support at home. Even if Ukraine surrenders tomorrow the damage is done and it's very likely some sanctions will stay even after the end of the war.
1
No, it's not an Orthodox tradition to celebrate Christmas the 7th. It's because the Russian Church use the old Julian calendar for the dates of the holidays. Most Orthodox churches like the Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian and Antiochian Churches use the new Gregorian calendar. So Ukraine just decided to use the Gregorian calendar like their peaceful Orthodox brothers.
1
It's not Orthodox to use the Julian calendar, plenty of Orthodox Christians use the Gregorian calendar and celebrate on the 25th. It's pretty much just the Serbs and Russians that still use the old Julian calendar.
1
It's not love for the west, it's hate for the Russians that is the reason for the change. Besides they are not changing their culture they are simply changing the calendar from the old Julian calendar to the new Gregorian calendar.
1
Maybe they should stop carrying out terror attacks against Israeli civilians, 19 died last month. I do not condone or support Israel's attack on the mourners and the death of this journalist but terror attacks by Hamas is not much better. Both are equally bad and need to stop.
1
Because one side has rocks the other batons
1
They don't have the resources to demolish every single small abandoned village they come across. They are already using their missile and artillery capacity on big cities like Mariupol bombing civilians all day long.
1
Considering almost 70% of the public is for NATO and that these soldiers have been conducting military operations with NATO for a long time I'd say the majority of them should be for it.
1
One side has rocks the other has batons, sounds like a clash to me.
1
At least they didn't throw her off a building ISIS style I guess.
1
@yaqusmafamily3077 They did.
1
It's enough to make them retreat, morale is low the Russian soldiers have no will to fight back or push on.
1
Nope they used to celebrate it on the 25th before the Soviets invading and occupied Ukraine and they lost their independence.
1
Expected reply is mid May
1
Bye Bye Ruskis.
1
Nah there's quite a few Orthodox Christians that celebrate it the 25th it all depends on if they recognize the holiday dates by the Julian calendar or the Gregorian calendar. The Russian and Serbian church follows the Julian calendar so they celebrate it the 7th but other Orthodox Christians that follow the Gregorian calendar would celebrate it the 25th. For example the Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian and Antiochian Orthodox Churches use the Gregorian calendar and celebrate it the 25th. So basically Ukrainians have decided to use the Gregorian calendar instead like many other Orthodox Christians as a way to show their distaste for Russia.
1
@rsrs1136 Won't happen. The minute Putin sends a nuke he will receive 10 coming back towards Moscow and he knows that.
1
@suomi1416 China won't do a thing. Xi is too worried about the party congress he cannot mess up before he gets confirmed for another term.
1
That's what they said about Ukraine wanting to join NATO and look what happened to them
1
@daledykes9253 They are just fighting for their independence.
1
I don't think they want to be like Russia.
1
Don't be stupid stone throwing and baton beatings are not the same as using tanks and missiles lol.
1
@georgeroberts6490 That's one of the stupidest things I have ever heard lol. For the record I did not find your comment to be Antisemitic but Antisemitism is hostility to, prejudice towards, or discrimination against Jews has nothing to do if they are considered being a "Semite" or not.
1
Throw rocks at the Russians and they won't use Batons
1
No it's not Orthodox it's just a matter of the Julian calendar or the Gregorian calendars. Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian and Antiochian Churches use the Gregorian calendar The Russians and the Serbs use the Julian calendars.
1
I take policies that make the countries better over a good speaker every day that makes my every day life worse to be honest. Need to give cred to Obama, great speaker very charismatic I use him as an example for my public speaking classes. His policies made America a worse place though, I love to watch his speeches but I don't miss him as president.
1
It's not an Orthodox tradition. The Greeks, Romanian, Bulgarian and many more Orthodox churches have been celebrating Christmas on the 25th for a very long time. It's mostly just Russians and Serbs that celebrate it on the 7th.
1
@Naz123Gul People in the Middle East always find a reason to start a conflict NATO or not.
1
Okay Mohammed.
1
Don't agree. If Zelensky wanted to surrender unconditionally he should have done so the first week of the invasion. Now the way things are the longer this conflict lasts it's worse for Russia. The longer he holds out the more likely the peace terms will be more favourable for Ukraine and he knows it. The pressure is on Russia to end this as soon as possible, either militarily or diplomatically their economy is taking big hits and the public is turning on the Russian government in bigger numbers. The Russians cannot keep this up for months on end meanwhile Ukraine is receiving massive economic and military support. Zelensky knows that if he can show the Russians he will not relent they will make concessions at the negotiating table and the peace won't be as harsh on the Ukranians.
1
@sukhoi4700 It's not an Eastern Orthodox tradition to use the Julian calendar, it's mostly just Russians and Serbs. The rest of the Eastern Orthodox use the Gregorian calendar and celebrate Xmas on the 25th.
1
They are opposites, Obama is a great speaker but did little good for the country with useless policies. Trump is mean and is more likely to get into trouble than getting friends when having a speech but his policies are actually good for the country.
1
Maybe, maybe not. Time will tell.
1
He was a volunteer. He was not hired or getting paid to fight for the Ukrainians.
1
@markpower9081 Trump supporters know Trump is just talking to get into a better negotiating position. Look at Canada, Mexico and Panama all that talk about THESE TARIFFS WILL DESTROY US, they all folded and gave Trump what he wanted and now no tariffs.
1
It's not an Orthodox tradition to use the Julian calendar. It's mostly just Serbia and Russian churches, the rest of the Orthodox Christians use the Gregorian calendar and celebrate it the 25th. In fact Ukraine celebrated it on the 25th before the Soviet union forced them to follow the Russian church.
1
