  5.  @PedanticAntics  Not relevant, lacking safety standards in the automobile industry is a no brainer and can easily be proven by statistics and science or just simple logic. The COVID-19 corona virus mostly spreads via respiratory droplets in the 1–4 µm size range, a cloth mask which is one of the most common masks used by the public has small holes in the fabric depending on how it's made the holes are up to 200 µm in diameter it's like trying to keep mosquitos out with a big chain. Surgical masks are a lot better but they do not provide a perfect fit so they are not very useful either. Your best bet would be a medical grade N95 mask as they filter out particles all the way down to 5 µm, if you want to be fully protected however you'd have to put the whole hazmat suit on with mask and eye protection. Trying to Avoiding COVID using a cloth mask is like going out on a rainy day with a book over your head to protect you from the rain, sure you will be able to stop some of the rain from hitting you but you will still be soaking wet at the end of the day regardless. So my point is a mask mandate would only be scientifically significant if we're all wearing medical graded N95 masks or better, which is not feasible as these should be saved for the hospital staff and emergency personnel at all cost. Even so as harsh as it would seem the survival rate of the virus is pretty damn high, the reason you see high numbers is because every single one of us will get COVID, some of us will get it numerous times which sucks but if you think a mask designed to stop 20-200 µm droplets is going to make a major difference against a 1-4 µm virus then you are sadly mistaken.
