Here are the definitions of foodstuff I found in a few English dictionaries: a substance with food value (specifically: the raw material of food before or after processing) a substance suitable for consumption as food any substance that is used as food or to make food Simply speaking, foodstuff is the raw product from which sustenance can be produced or extracted. The error happened to be more significant. The word was used incorrectly. While foodstuff is sold in groceries, general food stores, or supermarkets, the inflation is never gaged by the price of foodstuffs alone. They may be a part of the food basket or may be not.
