It's an investment in democracy and ultimately military defense. If Ukraine fails Russia will keep warrin until it expands its empire as far as it can get. We are back in the Cold War.

The big secret is that Trump doesn't give a hoot about illegal immigration. For years he has relied on cheap illegal labor to run his clubs to maximize profits. The key is "The Wall"-- a mega-billion dollar construction project. The first thing he did with this project was exempt it by order all required federal anti-corruption procurement regulations and authorize himself the power to award contracts to anyone in his sole discretion. So no competitive bidding and no vetting of contractors and suppliers. In other words the greatest construction graft project in American history. By diverting funds from authorized military projects he managed to get an $18B slush fund to dole out to friends, family, donors, who knows? The American taxpayers have no idea who or what is behind the corporate shells formed by the multitude of "construction consltants" and the vendors who may have overcharged by Millions. There were no safeguards in place. When completed the project repaired existing barriers and only added 70 miles of new fence to the 1,200 mile border. Earlier wall construction projects added hunderds of miles of new wall for a fraction of that. It wasn't about "immigration". It was about "construction graft"-- a subject that Trump knew well from his Atlantic City days.
