  1. The program only appeals to poor Americans who are searching for a cheap place to retire. They underestimate the cost to renovate and maintain the properties and they don't realize that by not knowing how to speak Italian they will be hopelessly lost and not able to function.

  3. You better be able to speak Italian in the small towns. The whole world does not speak English.

  4.  @Duke_of_Prunes  I studied Italian in school for years as a child. I would still find it difficult to be conversant with an Italian who knew no English. If your are a fluent conversationalist in Spanish it must help. Otherwise my point is to warn people not to assume the whole world speaks English, like in the tourist centers.
