I am sure this apartment originally had a maids room and certainly a powder room (not one with a shower). It absolutely did not have the kitchen open to the living room. Middle class people wouldn't think of doing that-- that was the way the poor in tenements lived.

The monthly maintenance (HOA) is $3,190. Minimum downpayment is $630,000 (20%). This is a coop. The board reviews your financials to see if you are qualified.

The board would not allow you to rent out your apartment. Not in a coop.

Except for old wiring, plumbing, rusting steel beams. Repairs can be very expensive.

Plus the monthly charges are probably around $3K. Utilities extra.

At this price range the kitchen in the middle of the living room looks out of place. People in small homes do that (so called "open concept") because they want to to create the illusion of more space. In a pre-war building it looks ridiculous.

As New York City apartments go this apartment is not at all exceptional. There are plenty in other parts of the city with living rooms that measure 20' x 30' and the kitchens are certainly in another wing of the home. Expect 9 to 12 foot ceilings and terraces. Look up 740 Park Ave for one of the best.
