  1. Paying for terrace space in NYC is not a good idea if you have a tight budget. For more than half of the years it is unusable. And you need indoor room to store any cushions. Outdoor furniture gets worn and dirty in NYC winters. BBQ's are illegal unless you have a big enough terrace. Even then many locations are too windy. If you are near the river make sure everything is secured.
