@bocadillarica It was 40 years later that England decided to start sending its surplus dregs to Virginia, with promises of a land of milk and honey. The colony failed because they sent urban street people who didn't know carpentry, how to farm or otherwise survive.

The took beggars off the streets and asked them to volunteer to travel to a land where the living was easy. Who wouldn't in their shoes? These were street people who had no survival skills and no idea how to farm They starved.
