Using "thing" instead of the specific word is a sign of dementia. You see it in nursing homes, usually in people in their 80's and older. Trump's father had "early onset dementia" a genetic disorder. Donald seems to have it too, and it is progressing.

His older brother, Fred Jr., was the smart one who was supposed to take over the business. Fred couldn't stomach his father's immorality and ruthlessness, so he refused to go into real estate and drank himself to death. Donnie was sloppy seconds for dad, but the immorality and ruthlessness were not a problem for him-- he just didn't want to do the work.

@Jondoe47889 I hope to be as sharp as Biden at his age. Unlike Trump Biden has specific words, facts and figures at his finger tips. He doesn't constantly use the same four words. Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer's and he sounded more with it than Trump!

He sounds like someone in a nursing home. He uses the word "thing" because he forgets all of the specific words. I had relatives in their 90's who did that. They sounded like Trump.

He's too dumb to realize that he can't contribute anything useful to solving the problem. He lacks education and even common sense (remember his "hunch" about this going away by April 2?). He throws out banal suggestions that are easily dismissed immediately but he thinks he is sharing his creative talents. It's embarrassing for the other smarter people in the room. And as President he should prepare for these meetings and think first before speaking, but that takes disciple and work, two things he's never needed. So incompetent for the job, but that was always obvious.
