  1. The way I understand the engineering challenge is this. Under Alcubierre's original formula you'd need a mass the size of Jupiter to power it.Others have re-worked it and found you only need a couple tons of reaction mass. I give it maybe 50 years before we build it.

  2. While you mention Chernbobyl and Fukushima did you forget TMI, or SL-1 or the multliple nuclear accidents there have happened. But even with that know who has the safest nuclear reactors? The U.S Navy. The reactors are pretty much modules that can be swapped out.
