Drove a new Frontier this past weekend. Sadly not off-road but on highways and wow did Nissan get it right. Usually Japanese vehicles at 80MPH or higher get a bit squirrely but not this truck. The only negative point, is the vehicle drinks gas like water. But yeah, kept in 2WD for that.

I'll be honest - if you're going for speed and handling skip the American makes entirely. They've always produced a mediocre car and Cadillac is no exception to that. They just don't get it.

And the other thing - it's a GM product. I've known accountants at GM and they've told me the horror stories including the ignition switch debacle. I'm sorry but I won't buy a GM vehicle. Plus they're mechanical nightmares - have been since the 1950's on. And explain to me how this Buick only cranks under 300HP and weight a couple tons, while a VW Golf TSi is a little lighter at 2900 or so pounds but puts out 300HP from a 2L engine. So much quicker vehicle. Plus German engineered.

I have a zipcar account. I've driven several different cars and found out what I like. My favorite cars -a Volkswagen Golf TSi, and the Jetta TSi. Good god they're fun to drive.

Yeah I know. I love front wheel drive. And get this I once drove a Toyota Sienna min van from Zipcar. That fucker could burn rubber on takeoff and from the front wheels.

And once again a U.S. manufacturer blows it on integration with phones by backing the Apple IOS. Sorry - gimme a good Bluetooth system over that.

+ZombiedustXXX Well I am mechanically inclined so yeah I can wrench them myself. And I agree on the secondary market for the German cars. It's why I own some tools and an OBD-II scanner.

Interesting so a computer controlled standard transmission. How cool is that.

I have a zipcar account and with it I get to drive all sorts of cars from a Honda Civic to a BMW X3. However I did get a Sienna one time. It is funny how it's so easy to spin the FRONT wheels. But alas - I don't have a large family and don't need that.

What's with the headlights flashing?

Very cool infrared vid of an engine warming up.
1
Perhaps that is the case. And here's the rub - it's a wasted 500+ HP. There are vehicles out there with sub 500HP that scream down the roads with a lower price, better quality and overall a more pleasurable drive.
1
Well there is the BMW X3, or even a VW Golf TSi. Yes, I have a strong preference for Bavarian and German vehicles.
1
Glad you feel that way. However I recently drove a Chrysler 200S. The transmission sucks, it'll be expensive as all hell to repair, and overall things like a missing rear camera, and thing like that make it a non-starter for me. And UConnect - a joke. It reboots itself regularly.
1
Well - I've driven all sorts of vehicles so there's that. And I realize the comparison lacks a bit - but it shows the general stupidity of of U.S. auto manufacturers. They'll go with all sorts of bells and whistles but the implementation falls short.

+eedo123 So you have to resort to ad hominem? So it is you who is the horses ass. There you go, that's proper ad hominem.

My 2019 Chevy Trax is electric power steering. You can use your pinky finger to spin the wheel.

I've rented a 2017 Subaru Impreza Sport. Not a bad car per se - the interior fit and finish - the right AC vent is popped out and can't be pushed back in. And one thing I dislike immensely about modern cars, the dunning for oil and maintenance.
1
Yeah - like change oil in 100 miles, change filter, service interval and so on.

So I think this takes the IC engine pretty much as far as it's going to go.

You want good coffee - buy the green dried beans and roast them yourself. You can do it in a pan on the stove, or buy a cheap popcorn stir machine. In those machines use time - usually 20 to 35 minutes depending on the beans. For example I love Costa Rican Dota Estate beans and they take 25 minutes. Then grind 8 to 16 oz as you need it. 2oz into a French Press is perfect.

Thing is, it's only VW that got caught. Mercedes-Benz, BMW, et al have diesels that do the EXACT same thing. So it's a conspiracy that goes straight to the German government

I've only driven two BMW vehicles. An X1 and and X3. Gotta say my favorite is the X3, but the X1 is respectable too - but it's essentially a station wagon.
