  1. Just a small correction - email doesn't go encrypted at all unless you encrypt the BODY of the email message. All email goes open on port 25 from server to server.

  4. The powers of 2 plays out quite a bit in the sequence. I note 1024, 2048, 4096 and 8192 correspond to 2^10, 2^11, 2^12 and 2^13.

  9. The period of the mid 50's through the 1960's were an interesting period in telephonic development. Bell had been using push buttons for operator consoles prior. But the other biggie from the mid 50's on was the DDD network. Used 4A Crossbar initially, then later 4E completely digital switch.
