  1. Interesting about flying spot. Ma Bell used it when she was developing electronic switching systems. It was used for call store. Of course it proved cumbersome and ineffective so then she went to magnetic memory. And I gotta admit the demo for the detector was awesome.

  2. Oh and the CCD - that one has a fascinating history too. Bell Labs had it at one point, then Polaroid, Kodak, et al.
