  1. It's a form of brainrot really. To schematize a story into a sequence of plot beats and then judge it in the quantity of beats resolved. It's induced by social media providing recaps and reviews summarizing shows. It glosses over all the ways a show builds a world, characters, or even just a vibe. Take Master & Commander. There's very little plot in that movie actually. But meanwhile a rich story of the brutal life at sea is being told making it a masterpiece.
