  1. During the 50's and 60s the Netherlands were looking up to the US and were being consulted by American spatial planners recommending them to start making more space for their cars in their cities. Thankfully the Dutch resisted that advice and even reverted the ideas that did went through like in Utrecht. But of course Rotterdam being a clean slate made it much easier for this car obsession to sink it's paws into the area.
