This is the go to excuse for most idelogies though. 'It doesn't work because it isn't TRUE socialism' 'It doesn't work because it isn't true Islam'. You wouldn't accept that excuse from them so apply that same scrutiny to capitalism. For instance, what is it about TRUE capitalism that would prevent a bunch of wealthy elites from forming an autocratic government to do their bidding? What mechanic is there that would prevent such a thing from forming in the first place? Answer that and then you get to make this argument from impurity.
