  1. AI doesn't need to inhabit a robotic form to be considered sentient. That's just superficial anthropomorphism that people are displaying. You could let AI inhabit a virtual world on a hard disk and if it indeed has sufficient capacity of sentience then it already deserves rights. It's quite horrifying if you consider this. Because some maniac could load up a virtual world filled with sentient AI beings and torture them indefinitely and at mind boggling scale. It really sci-fi right now, but it's a scenario that's on the table.
