  2. I Still don't get it. A boost in renewable energy also means a huge boost in decentralized power generation. More autonomy for local communities. The quickest way to a major sweep in that would be new battery technology produced on a massive scale. That's what Elon Musk intends to do with his mega factories. You'd need about 80 of those factories to provide the entire world with sufficient power storage to make all electricity 100% renewable, yes, at baseline. 80 megafactories is something the world can do if it pulls together. Who the fuck cares if Elon Musks benefits from such a plan. If there's anyone who deserves to benefit from that it's him. It's not like he's going to swim around in his billions either, he'll probably throw it into more space missions or whatever other hobby project he has going on. The Paris Agreement brings us closer to a massive energy overhaul. No more centralized fossil barons deciding American policy and no more Saudi salafits bribing our countrty into fighting their wars for them.
