  1. English is not my native language. Trust me on this, it's the best language. It has a wide range of highly usable synonyms allowing people to build subtly different sentences with vastly different meanings. Many language don't have that. Spanish certainly doesn't. English is elegant, simple and versatile. It should be the global language even if it wasn't already so common.

  2. I speak four languages. Tradition, what about it? Speaking two languages is something that should be greatly encouraged. Everyone gets to keep their native and add English on it. Nothing is lost.

  3. Yeah language variation is still important. If only to make sure old works of art don't get lost by languages dying. All I'm saying is that it's not unreasonable to expect people to know English. It's a very good language. Native English speakers don't quite realise how well it's made.
