  2. Alejandra Reyna When you care about something that other people don't care about, you force them to reconsider their values and that creates dissonance in them. So that's why people tend to lash out at any displays at empathy.

A Borggren The most flexible thing would be to distance ourselves from labels like 'vegan' 'vegetarian' or 'meat eater' and look at the different animal practices in our society.  I personally think that the meat industry adds an element of unnecessary violent brutality to our humanity. As long as we're upfront about what we're actually doing and don't numb ourselves to the facts or dress it up into something it's not, then the whole act of consuming meat becomes something we can either encourage or discourage through our own personal actions.  My point is, if we see it for what it is, we no longer need the labels to identify as a specific group.

  7. fakeaccount8888 You're telling me our factory farming is good for the ecosystem? And you honestly believe that compassion to other sentient beings is a Western invention? Asians are for a very large part vegetarian for numerous reasons. The Jainists are vegan extremists. Cities like Taiwan even have the highest number of vegetarians in the world.
